Update on Betesda Orphanage

Last week, two members of the team I traveled with over Christmas returned to the orphanage in Nicaragua for a 3 month stay to help love on those children and minister to the people of the community there. Another member will be arriving next week also to spend three months at Betesda.  As I read their emails of the changes seen in just two months since our visit, my heart is stirred to pray without ceasing for them.  Several children have been placed in local homes and several others have come to join the orphanage, taken off the streets and placed in a safe and loving environment.  The needs are many and the workers are few.

My friend, Chantal explained in her email that there is a desperation in the poverty there. Brittany says that some of the new kids have not yet given their hearts over to God as they are still healing the deep wounds in their souls from their days on the streets. She is glad to be there and is excited to see all God has over these next few months. Christine should be arriving there from Canada next week. This small team of women who only met at Christmas, have bonded with a love for the children and the people of Nicaragua and I can hear it in the letters they write. They will spend these months living in the familiar dormitory where we spent Christmas.  The school bus we travelled around in has finally broken down without hope of fixing so there is no other form of transportation unless Pastor Arturo is around.  His church keeps him very busy, however.  Please keep my new friends and the childen in prayer as we may be the only ones praying for this forgotten people with so much love to share. I miss them all and hope to see them again one day soon.
