Each time the bus passed the garbage dump entry, we were reminded of the precautionaries; Close all the bus windows because of the flies, keep your mouth closed too because the flies carry germs. Don't bring cameras out of the bus, it is offensive. Be discreet with gifts or you may cause a desperate panic and be mobbed. God's Grace kept the spirit of fear back from me and I laughed it all away. Closed mouth smiles only lasted a minute as it was impossible to restrain such joy from these kids. Hugs turned into a sharing of ashes which stayed with me until we got back to the dorm for a trickle of water shower. (You can't make this stuff up.)
So there I am in the dump, and a team member says to me, "Hey, didn't your son go to Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry? There's a guy over there who also goes to BSSM." Hmmm... so off I go to inquire of him. The young man, Eric was there from California visiting his girlfriend's family for Christmas in Nicaragua. Both he and she are students at BSSM. So I asked if he knew my son Kris. Well they happened to share a house last year. His girlfriend, Ixil is roommates this year with a young woman named Natalie from my church, who is in school at BSSM also. God is so funny to have me cross paths in a 3rd world nation's garbage dump with two people who ministered with my son, 3000 miles away, and here they are now ministering to the homeless with me. Astounding!
