Refugee Camps

Several months ago, in the rainy season, many of the  poorest poor were washed out of their tents in the garbage dumps and the government stepped in and place these families in wharehouses just down the hillside from  the dumps. These refugee camps are security protected with armored guards, fully equipped with machine guns and behind barbed wire gates.  Our team was bussed in one day to feed and minister to these people. We pulled up outside the fences and they came out to see us when they heard we had food for them. We scooped chicken and rice/beans onto paper plates and seved them with love and smiles, restoring dignity and identity to some who seemed to have given up.  We prayed for individuals as they waited inline for food.  Several team members were fluent in Spanish, there were a few interpreters and the rest of us picked up whatever we could just being saturated int  the culture. The people were so patient with us, helping us to maintain understanding.  We all spoke one language - love! This we all understood.

I sensed one of our leaders (Winnie Banov) moving and so I followed behind as she approached the fence to speak to the security guard.  She was asking if a few of us could enter and pray over the woman in the wheelchair and bring her a meal.  She looked severely arthritic in arms, hands and feet.  There were obvious signs that she was unable to get outside the fence without help.  Winnie wanted to get in and so did I. The security said no.  We walked away but I felt Winnie was not satisfied.  She walked to the part of the fence where the woman sat, she asked how long she was in that chair.  She walked back over to the security and made additional requests.  I followed every step.  I felt the Spirit of God moving and was sensitive to His favor being poured out.  Suddenly, the security nodded and we were in the fence with two others in the blink of an eye.

Directly to the woman in thechair, we began to pray healing over her, we rubbed anointing oil onto her arms.  She instantly changed her countenance and was beaming smiles as we loved on her.  She held my hand and knuckles protruded like knobs on a tree stump.  I gently caressed her hands with oil and locked in on her eyes. Winnie prayed and blessed her.  A meal was handed to her and we assisted her in eating.  The Presence of the Lord ws so strong right there, we all knew God had made a way for us and for this woman. I will never forget the smiles she poured out onto us during that encounter.
