A Christmas Celebration

After a delicious breakfast of pancakes with rice & beans, we set up to greet the community of hundreds who would soon arrive at the orphanage to share in a Christmas gift-giving celebration and dinner.  Each member of the team brought with them gift donations from all those who supported them.  I had brought nearly 100 lbs. of clothes, toys, jewelry, canned hams, color books/paper/markers & crayons, etc. from all of you. Upon opening the orphanage gate to receive the guests, music and worship began to sound and joy was released to all.  We sang, we danced, children and adults, streamers and banners to bring praise to the Lord.  Then we distributed gifts abundantly.  And later, we served chicken, rice & beans and tortillas to all those who came.

Later in the evening, the children of the orphange were treated as we took them to a very prestigious restaurant - Pizza Hut!  They screamed with excitement as the bus pulled into the parking lot.  They had coke and pizza and cake, then the dance team danced to the steel band and the kids swung a stick at the Barney pinata. When we finally dropped into the bunks later that night, the entire girls dorm broke into laughter at how much fun we had and what a great Christmas it was.  The laughter soon fell to tears as we all realized it was the best Christmas ever!
